[Sidefx-houdini-list] RBD Glue Strength

I asked SESI, and here's the word. Good to know...

"When the bond breaks, the glue impulse is reset and the frame re-simmed. So to find the max glue impulse you need to run it with a -1 and see what it peaks at."

Yes, this has happened to me in the past. At first I thought it was because of "Contact Grouping", but I saw that it is off by default.
So my new explanation (that doesn´t fix anything) is that the data we see is the impulse of one substep, and maybe adding all the substeps value per frame, it does add up to a higher value, which would explain why you have to put such a high value...

...but this is just a theory, like the one who explains there is a place where all the lost pens in the world go...:p

I, too, would like to have a confirmation on the true explanation for this.

regards,

Javier Meroño.

Something collides with it, and examining the details tab carefully, (using non-integer frame scrubbing), I can see that the maximum glueimpulse is just under 1000. I'd expect this bond to not break, but it does. In order to get the bond to not break, I have to up it to about 300,000.

(Is it because the energy that would have been dissipated by the breaking in the first instance is allowed to accumulate due to the relatively low glue impulse half life?)
