Like Andrew said.. don't use $JOB! It's special. Create a new one, such as
JOBDIR. Likewise, don't use $HIP. setenv -u JOBDIR will work ;)

Variables defined in the hip file with have precedence over the same
variable in the environment.

I reckon the special-ness of JOB is the only thing holding you back on your
current technique...

But... a win7 / OSX mashup... anyone successfully managing this using UNC
paths? Can it really be 2010 and windows still needs the drive letters
thing?!!?
