[Sidefx-houdini-list] point ... normals?

Currently in Houdini you need to separate the points if you want an edge
cusp because Houdini uses primitive and point normals. If you import in a
model which has vertex normals shared on the same point then Mantra will
render it but the viewport will not show it to you.
