Let's say you have an attribute which is 3 floats called "uv".
If you want to send the first component to a single float variable
(say "s"), the offset would be 0.  If you wanted to send the second
component to a different float parameter (say "t"), the offset would
be 1.

uv[0] -> s
uv[1] -> t
