Anyone know how to trigger a seg fault in WINDOWS so houdini saves out
a recovery file? i have an unresponsive file that i would like to
recover if possible

If you dont know what i mean in linux and mac you can cause houdini to
crash out but save a backup.

to do this you find the PID of the process that houdini is using and
you remember that number....
in my example it is 2167
then you run

kill -SEGV 2167

That command sent to houdini tells it it has failed and it should
think about packing up its things and going bie bie. It attempts to
save a files and then dies. That is better than just killing it
normally and loosing work.
