[Sidefx-houdini-list] Houdini -> Maya w/ colour?

This is kinda goofy, but can you not apply the Cd attribute to a map via uvs? bake it out...

unwrap the geometry - layout uvs.
export obj with uvs.
bake the Cd and Alpha attribute into a map (mantra -u last I checked -- mind you, this was in H8)
import obj, load map...

Sounds kinda convoluted.

Optionally, you might be able to stash the Cd values into the uv attribute -- and export that way.

Maybe ;)

Best,

Gene

yag.

If
they
say
that's
easy,
they
must
know
more
than
me.
I
was
hoping
to
save
in
houdini,
and
load
in
Maya.
Currently
I'm
looking
at
inventor
and
igs
formats,
but
so
far
it's
not
pretty.

I'm
surprised
(though
I
shouldn't
be
-
I
have
run
into
it
before)
to
find
that
.obj
files
don't
pass
arbitrary
attributes.

I've
been
working
with
Maya
for
6
months
now,
and
I
still
don't
care
for
it
at
all.
Will
I
ever?

Thanks!

How
about
generating
colour
and
alpha
maps
that
you
can
reapply
in
maya
with
some
easy
add
attribute
maps
thingy?

Apparently
my
maya
buds
say
it's
real
easy.
Ha!
they
know
nothing.
