RFE indeed.

In the meantime - here's the steps to get your own copy:

1./ Cop code above to a file called $HOME/houdini9.0/AttribGradient.vfl
2./ Source houdini environment (*nux)
3./ vcc -l otls/AttribGradient.otl -n AttribGradient -N AttribGradient
AttribGradient.vfl

Add otls/AttribGradient.otl to OPlibraries if you use it, and put
AttribGradient.vfl somewhere nice like a vex directory. Presto
