Pz is the distance from the camera plane to the plane that the shaded 
point is on (parallel to the camera plane; the camera plane is 
perpendicular to the camera viewing direction and passes through the 
camera position). It is *not* the 3D distance from the camera to the 
point shaded.

If you want the 3D distance, use P instead (a point). Take the length of 
that vector and you've got the proper 3D distance (this can be done in 
VOPs or COPs).
