Well, all of those functions I mentioned are expression functions, and I'm not 
sure if they have analogs in VEX (my gut says they don't). So, before jumping 
into HDK land, I'd probably first prototype it as a custom expression 
function -- at least you can fine-tune it very quickly and judge whether it 
justifies moving it over to HDK.
